The sound was so loud that some people thought that the Earth was coming to an end as the Mayan Calendar predicted the Earth will be destroyed in 2012.

People's rumors about the sonic boom may be created by aircraft's by the Air force which was situated near to that place were wrong as army personal declined the possibility of  ammunition explosion.

As the defense spokesperson, Col SD Goswami, said that the sound was not an outcome of any ammunition explosion. He also said that sonic boom caused by testing aircraft was also not a possibility because sonic boom is completely forbidden in township areas as they have the capability of inflicting enormous property damage such as crumbling of window panes.

Sonic booms are always tested at least 60 kilometers outside the town areas where there is no population.
