How Coronavirus Started:
In the month of December on Dec. 10, Wei Guixian, a seafood
merchant in Wuhan market, first started
to feel like she was getting a cold, she went to a small local clinic and got
some treatment. At the end of December, China alerted WHO about several cases
of unusual pneumonia spread by unknown virus in Wuhan.
On Jan 7, officials announced that they had identified a new
virus, according to the WHO. The novel virus was named as 2019-nCoV.
Wuhan’s market is a place where both dead and live animals,
birds were sold. The animal from which the virus started transferring was not
identified but believes that it would have transferred from bats as genetic
sequence of the new virus is 96 percent identical to the other types of
Coronavirus like “Mers in 2012” and “Sars in 2002” started from bats.
Types Of Coronavirus:
The first type of Coronavius “Sars (severe acute respiratory
syndrome)”, first reported in China in 2002, which spreaded to 27 countries,
which infected around 8,000 people and killing 700.
The second type of Coronavirus “Mers (Middle East respiratory
syndrome)”, first emerged in Jordan in 2012 and about 2,500 cases have been
identified so far. It is more deadly than Sars.
The new third type of Coronavirus “Covid – 19” is more
aggressive than the other two types as it is becoming difficult for the
scientists to develop a vaccine as the virus mutating into a second strain.
How Coronavirus Spreads:
Like cold and flu, the virus is spread through droplets when
a person coughs or sneezes. The droplets land on surfaces and are picked up on
the hands of others and spread further. People catch the virus when they touch
their infected hands to their mouth, nose or eyes.
This disease can only be spread to a person who is spending
more than 15 minutes within two metres of an infected person. Coronavirus
